MODEL PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS PROYEK UNTUK MENGEMBANGKAN KEMAMPUAN LITERASI MATEMATIS MAHASISWA CALON GURU SD/MI
Abstract
It is important to develop students' mathematical literacy abilities from the elementary level. Prospective elementary/MI teacher students must have good mathematical literacy skills because they will later become elementary/MI teachers. They are expected to be able to design learning that develops students' literacy skills. This research method is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design. The subjects of this research were prospective elementary/MI teacher students in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instruments used were mathematical literacy tests and documentation. The t-test results show that the significance value is 0.01 < 0.05, which means project learning is effective in improving mathematical literacy skills. The project learning steps taken are (i) determining the project, (ii) designing completion steps, (iii) preparing the implementation schedule, (iv) completing the project, (v) preparing reports and presentations, and (vi) evaluating the process and project results. Several reasons why project learning can develop mathematical literacy skills are (i) the assignments are related to contextual problems, (ii) students are required to read and observe to complete the project, and (iii) project assignments motivate students to reason.
