MANAJEMEN PENGELOLAAN DAN ALIH KEPEMIMPINAN PERGURUAN TINGGI BERBASIS PGRI DI JAWA TIMUR

Abstract

Leadership management plays a vital role in enhancing employee performance. This current study aims to explore the reform of leadership and management within PGRI-based Higher Education Institutions in East Java. A correlational method was applied under a quantitative research framework. A total of 75 leaders from Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in East Java were selected using a random sampling technique, with a margin of error of 5% and a confidence level of 95%. Data analysis using SPSS 26 revealed that the instruments measuring democratic leadership style (X) and quality improvement of higher education management (Y) were valid. The calculated correlation coefficient (r) between leadership reform and management culture (X) and the improvement of institutional quality (Y) was 0.798, exceeding the critical r-table value of 0.308. Furthermore, reliability testing through Cronbach’s Alpha produced strong reliability scores: 0.811 for variable X and 0.856 for variable Y. The regression equation obtained was Y = -2.765 + 0.225X. Hypothesis testing indicated that the t-count (1.341) was greater than the t-table (1.256), with a significance level of 0.02 < 0.05, thus confirming the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Therefore, the democratic leadership style has a statistically significant impact on the quality of management in PGRI-based higher education institutions in East Java.
