The The effectiveness of wordwall games on students’ vocabulary mastery at SMK NU Al-Futuhiyyah Muncar

Abstract

The use of digital game-based platforms in English language learning has become increasingly popular in vocational schools. However, despite their widespread adoption, empirical evidence regarding their effectiveness in enhancing students’ English language proficiency remains limited. Wordwall, a digital game-based learning platform, provides interactive activities that can support vocabulary learning. Therefore, examining the effectiveness of Wordwall Games in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery is essential. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Wordwall Games on the vocabulary mastery of tenth-grade students at SMK NU Al-Futuhiyyah Muncar. This research employed a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design to measure the effectiveness of the treatment. Data were collected through vocabulary tests and analyzed quantitatively using a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the mean score increased from 53.40 in the pre-test to 80.33 in the post-test. The paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.001, which was lower than 0.05. These finding indicates that Wordwall Games are effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery, supporting its use in vocational English learning contexts.
