STRATEGI KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM PENINGKATAN KOMPETENSI GURU DAN MUTU PENDIDIKAN DI SMA ISLAM AL-MA’ARIF PANDAN INDAH KECAMATAN PRAYA BARAT DAYA

Abstract

The purpose of the research is in two parts, namely, knowing and analyzing the principal's strategy for improving teacher competence at Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School. Second, knowing and analyzing the principal's strategy for improving the quality of education at Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School This study uses a qualitative approach, while the method used in this research is a descriptive method with participatory observation techniques, interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis method uses the data analysis described by Miles and Huberman, which was re-explained by Johnny Saldana, who stated that: We see analysis as three concurrent flows of activity: (1) data condensation, (2) data display, and (3) conclusion drawing or verification." We will explore each of these components in greater depth as we proceed through the book. For now, we make only some overall comments. The results of this study are, First, the leadership style applied by the principal of Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok Regency, in an effort to improve teacher competence is a democratic leadership style. The application of the principal's daily behavior shows the attitudes of democratic leaders, such as attention, discipline, initiative, wisdom, openness, and stable emotions. As for the principal's leadership strategy that is applied to improving teacher competence, there are five strategies consisting of; (1) teacher competency development; (2) development of learning media; and (3) development of learning resources. (3) carrying out classroom supervision or observation when teachers teach, (4) carrying out teacher performance evaluations, and (5) procurement and development of e-learning. Second, the principal's leadership strategy in improving the quality of education at Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School, namely, the democratic leadership style applied by the principal of Al-Ma'arif Pandan Indah Islamic High School, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok Regency, succeeded in improving the quality of education by implementing a strategy consisting of: (1) encouraging teachers to join the MGMP Program. (2) Organizing training, seminars, and workshops (3) Classroom Action Research. The implications of the principal's leadership strategy are being able to gradually improve teacher competence and the quality of education through several process activities that support it.
